This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

This policy applies to all users of the Konektly App, including:

We use your information to:

• Deliver your Konektly+ subscription benefits
• Send push notifications about new jobs, applications, and hiring decisions
• Enable real-time messaging between workers and businesses

• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access

5. Location Data

We collect your precise GPS location to:

• Show workers nearby available jobs
• Show businesses the approximate distance of applicants

Free users: Your location is approximated (fuzzed by up to 1.5 km) when displayed to other users. Exact coordinates are not shared with other users.

Konektly+ subscribers: Your exact location is used to provide precise distance information.

Location is only collected when you are actively using the App. We do not track your location in the background.

6. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as described below.

6.1 With Other Users

• Workers can see business job postings including approximate or exact location (based on subscription tier) and business name.
• Businesses can see worker profiles including name, profile photo, rating, and approximate distance.
• After a shift is completed, both parties can see each other's reviews.

6.2 With Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party providers who process it on our behalf:

All providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the specified purpose.

6.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Konektly, our users, or the public.

6.4 Business Transfers

If Konektly is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Identity Verification (KYC)

To maintain a safe and trustworthy marketplace, all users must complete identity verification before accessing core features. This involves submitting a government-issued ID and may include a liveness check. Verification is processed by our partners Veriff and/or Didit. Results are stored on our servers to maintain your verification status.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services.

If you delete your account:

• Your data is permanently purged within 30 days
• Certain records (e.g. audit logs) may be retained longer where required by applicable Canadian laws and regulations
• Financial Records: Payment records and tax-related data are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required by the Canadian Income Tax Act
• Identity Verification Records: Retained as required by anti-money laundering regulations

We may retain anonymized, aggregated data indefinitely for analytics purposes. This data cannot be used to identify you.

9. Data Security

We protect your data using:

• TLS/HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Encrypted storage on AWS infrastructure in Canada (ca-central-1 region)
• JWT-based authentication with token rotation and blacklisting
• Rate limiting and access controls on sensitive endpoints
• Signed webhook verification for all third-party callbacks

10. Your Privacy Rights

Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation, you have the right to:

10.1 Access Your Data

Request a copy of all personal information we hold about you. Use the "Export My Data" feature in app Settings, or contact us at hello@konektly.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

10.2 Correct Your Data

Update your profile information directly in the app (name, email, profile photo). For corrections to identity verification records, contact us directly.

10.3 Delete Your Data

Request account deletion from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). This initiates a 30-day grace period, after which your personal information is permanently purged. Records required by law are retained in anonymized form.

10.4 Withdraw Consent

• Location: Revoke location permissions in your device settings
• Push Notifications: Disable in app notification settings or device settings
• Marketing emails: Opt out via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email

Withdrawing consent for core services (e.g. phone verification) may prevent you from using the App.

10.5 File a Complaint

If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.

11. Push Notifications

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send push notifications for:

• New job postings near your location
• Application status updates (accepted, rejected)
• New messages from businesses or workers
• Account and subscription updates

Konektly+ subscribers receive job notifications immediately. Free users receive notifications on a slight delay.

You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or in the app's notification preferences.

12. International Data Transfers

Your information is primarily stored and processed in Canada. Some service providers (e.g. AWS, Firebase, Google) may process data in the United States or other jurisdictions. We ensure appropriate contractual safeguards are in place with all providers.

13. Children's Privacy

Konektly is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately delete their account and associated data.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top and notify you through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
